The International Race of Champions or IROC in Las Vegas, Nevada
was created in 1973 by Riverside International Raceway President Les Richter, Mike Phelps and Roger Penske. Mark Donahue was the first driver to win the championship in 1974. He was driving a sports car, a Porsche Carrera RSRs. In 2007, IROC could no longer find any sponsor and postponed its first two races at Texas and Daytona. It went hiatus on 2007 but hoped to return with sponsors in 2008. However on March 7, 2008 IROC announced auctioning its off tools, equipments, and memorabilia. ...
